All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is conducted every year by National Law University Delhi to admit students for its five-year B.A LL. B program.
The notification for AILET exam is released by NLU New Delhi on its website as well as leading national newspapers each year.
AILET 2019 exam date has been declared NLU Delhi. AILET 2018 was taken by 17,475 candidates for 73 seats at National Law University, Delhi.
On the basis of their score in AILET 2019, candidates can secure admission in BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD programmes offered at NLU, New Delhi. AILET results are the means through which aspirants are shortlisted for admission to fill 83 seats in the BA LLB (Hons) course and 40 in LLM course. In BA LLB programme, there are 73 seats available for admission on merit through AILET followed by 10 seats which are open for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit. Here, Foreign Nationals are exempted from giving AILET. Rest one seat is reserved for Kashmiri Migrants and two seats for residents of Jammu and Kashmir. For LLM programme admissions, there are 35+5 seats for Foreign Nationals.
The eligibility criteria to appear for AILET 2019 for BA LLB (Hons) course admissions is as mentioned below:
- Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 System) or equivalent Examination with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate
- There is no age limit
- Candidates who have appeared in Class 12th exam in March or April same year may also apply. However, such candidates are requested to carry requisite documents to prove they have passed with required marks.

Pattern of AILET Exam:
The AILET exam for BA LLB (Hons) course comprises of 150 questions which aspirants need to complete in duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. AILET 2019 exam pattern is such that the test paper is divided into five sections which are English, Basic Mathematics, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
Maximum marks which one can secure in AILET are 150. The distribution of questions asked and marks in AILET exam are as mentioned below:

AILET 2019 Marking Scheme
For every correct answer marked in the exam, one mark would be awarded to candidates. There will be negative marking in AILET 2019. “The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25 X 4 =1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark”, informs the official website.

Candidates can check AILET 2019 result on the official website of the exam. All India Law Entrance Test is usually conducted in the month of May and the result for AILET BA LLB exam is declared in the month of May whereas that of LLM and PhD programmes is declared in the month of June each year. AILET result for UG law course admission is usually declared marks-wise, roll number wise and category wise (General, SC, ST, PwD, Kashmiri Migrants and Residents of Jammu & Kashmir). Further, National Law University, Delhi also shares a consolidated final merit list for admissions.

In a scenario where two or more candidates secure the same marks in AILET 2019 for BA LLB course admissions then tie-break in such a scenario is done as per the below mentioned criteria:
- Candidate who has secured higher marks percentage in Intermediate Examination (10+2) /Higher Secondary School or its equivalent as recognised by the University is ranked higher.
- If the tie still remains, then the candidate who has higher score in Class X is ranked higher.
- If the tie still remains, then the candidate who is older is ranked higher.
AILET 2018 Toppers
As per AILET 2018 result shared by NLU Delhi, Devansh Kaushik has secured the first rank in this law entrance exam with 98.25 marks. He is closely followed by Harshita Gupta and Anmol Gupta who have secured the second and third rank respectively. Harshita’s score in AILET 2018 is 84 marks while that of Anmol is 83.75. Among the top 10 rank holders in AILET 2018 there were only two girls.

AILET 2017 results were announced on May 23, 2017. NLU Delhi announced the details of 46 provisionally selected candidates in the General Category basis their AILET 2017 scores. Know AILET 2017 toppers here.
AILET 2019 LLM & PhD Result
AILET LLM results are also declared on the official website of the law school. LLM course results are declared by NLU Delhi both category wise and roll number wise.
AILET LLM Result Tie-Break: Here, if two or more aspirants secure the same marks then their AILET 2019 ranks will be determined basis their marks/percentage in BA LLB (Hons)/LLB marks statements or its equivalent as recognised by the University.
AILET PhD results are also declared by the authorities on the official website of NLU Delhi. Separate merit lists are released for PhD course admissions at NLU Delhi. The merit lists are issued as per the below mentioned criteria:
- Candidates who have qualified for submission of Research Proposal (Categories and Marks Wise)
- Candidates who are exempted from AILET-2019 (Candidates with UGC NET/JRF/SELT and MPhil)
